Casa Suaya is located in the rural parish of La Esperanza, in the canton of Ibarra, in the province of Imbabura, at approximately 2,600 meters above sea level.

We are in an Andean mountain territory shaped by agriculture and community life, under the presence of Taita Imbabura and facing the territory of Mama Cotacachi.

Here, everyday life is closely connected to the land, water, crops, animals, mountains and the knowledge that continues to live within local communities.

LA ESPERANZA

La Esperanza is a rural parish located on the slopes of the Imbabura volcanic complex.

It is a territory where agriculture, traditional crafts and community life come together with mountain and páramo landscapes.

The parish is also known for its embroidery, handicrafts and local traditions. From here, different routes and natural areas of the region can be accessed.

For us, the territory is not simply somewhere to visit.

It is where we live, work, plant, and learn.

TAITA IMBABURA

Taita Imbabura is a central presence in the landscape of this region and forms part of the cultural identity of the communities living around the mountain.

The Taita Imbabura Protected Area currently includes territories within Ibarra, Otavalo and Antonio Ante, including the San Pablo area, with ecosystems ranging from approximately 2,400 to 4,621 meters above sea level.

From La Esperanza, it is possible to access mountain routes connected to this territory.

The official Taita Imbabura route is currently approximately 6 km long, with an estimated round-trip duration of 8–9 hours and medium-to-high difficulty. The official access indicated is through the communities of San Clemente or Cashaloma, in La Esperanza.

These activities require appropriate preparation and, when necessary, a certified local guide.

CUBILCHE

The Cubilche complex forms part of the landscape of La Esperanza, combining páramo, mountains and lagoons.

The current official route to Volcán Cubilche is approximately 5 km long, with an estimated round-trip duration of 3–4 hours and low-to-medium difficulty.

Laguna de Cubilche is located at approximately 3,800 meters above sea level and is a destination for hiking and nature activities.

Access to certain areas may vary depending on trail conditions. For mountain routes, we recommend checking current conditions and going with people who know the territory.

Casa Suaya's location makes it possible to combine a stay in the countryside with visits to different places throughout Imbabura.

The city of Ibarra is just a few minutes from Casa Suaya and offers services, shopping, restaurants and access to other parts of the province.

Otavalo offers an opportunity to experience markets, handicrafts, culture and different landscapes of northern Imbabura.

COTACACHI

Cotacachi is known for its traditional crafts and its connection to the mountains and Laguna de Cuicocha.

This area is home to communities, waterfalls, agricultural landscapes, handicrafts and different experiences connected to rural Andean life.

The Peguche area offers natural and cultural spaces connected to the Kichwa communities of the region.

San Antonio de Ibarra is especially known for its woodcarving tradition and family-run artisan workshops.

The territory around Casa Suaya offers different opportunities for walking, observing the landscape and experiencing mountain ecosystems.

Nearby options include hiking trails, páramo landscapes, waterfalls, lagoons and places for observing local flora and fauna.

Trail conditions can change depending on weather and season.
